What is Burrata?
Burrata is an Italian cheese that originated in Puglia, a region in Italy. This cheese is made from mozzarella and Italian cream which is why it is often mistaken for mozzarella. The combination of cream and mozzarella makes it a very creamy cheese with a mild flavour.
When you cut open this Italian ball, the fresh Italian cream runs out making your mouth water. A true dream for any cheese lover.
Using Burrata in recipes
Just because Burrata has a mild flavour does not mean it is not delicious on its own. You can eat it on its own, for instance with drinks. You can also combine it well with olive oil, sea salt and basil, for example. Are you a fan of salads? Then you can work the burrata wonderfully into your salad. Burrata will also taste delicious on a pizza just out of the oven.
It is important, no matter which way you use it, that you take the cheese out of the fridge half an hour before consuming it so that it can come to room temperature and fully develop its flavour.
