Leerdammer is probably the most famous hole cheese of Nederland. The taste of this cheese is Mild, Zoet and a little Nootachtig. The taste of Leerdammer resembles to some extent the well-known Emmentaler although Leerdammer has a somewhat rounder taste.
The sweet nutty taste of Leerdammer increases as the cheese ages.
Leerdammer is delicious to eat on bread at lunch or breakfast. The cheese is also excellent for use as a processed cheese. Use Leerdammer for a sandwich or incorporate it into fondue.
