A perennial crumbled cheese as it should be; Karaktervol, beautiful salt crystals and nice and crumbly. This is the best way to describe our Gouda crumbly cheeses. Our crumbled cheeses are given no less than 3 years to mature in our own traditional maturing house. During this ripening process, these cheeses lose their moisture which is collected on wooden boards. The final product is a very tangy and firm cheese with delicious salt crystals.
Gouda cheeses may only carry their name when they meet a number of strict requirements of their own:
- Only milk from 100% Dutch cows may be used for Gouda cheeses.
- The cheeses must be prepared according to a traditional Dutch recipe.
- The ripening process takes place on wooden boards.
Our Gouda crumble cheese is made from pasteurized milk and can therefore be eaten when you are expecting.
Processing aged Gouda crumble cheese
Overaged Gouda crumble cheese is generally not eaten on bread. Because the cheese is much harder, it can be harder to shave. But what can you use this cheese for?
Gouda crumbled cheese is the ideal addition to a delicious cheeseboard with a good glass of wine, for example. Crumbled cheeses are also great to incorporate into various dishes.
