Tynjetaler
Tynjetaler is a delicious soft cheese. This beautiful Frisian hole cheese is best described as a nutty cheese with a refined stalky taste.
The Tynjetaler has its origin in the Frisian village of Tynje and is made on the de Gelder farm. Near the nature reserve "de Deelen", in the heart of Friesland.
A real family business which started in 1962. They did not start immediately with making cheese, but with the production of various dairy products. For example, milk, yogurt, custard and buttermilk.
Luck of the draw
It wasn't until years later in 1994 that the first cheeses were made by owner Jenny. Made from fresh raw milk from cows roaming on their own farm pasture.
The Tynjetaler was created by their own accident. The cheese had actually failed because it was not meant to have such large holes. Customers at the cheese farm responded raving about the cheese, and lo and behold, Tynjetaler was born.
Processing Tynjetaler
Tynjetaler is a very popular cheese for both young and old. This is a delicious cheese to eat on a sandwich, but also on a sandwich or grated as a cheese fondue. Of course, this cheese is also delicious with drinks, on a cheeseboard or just to eat on the go.
